(Lanka-e-News- 22.April.2015, 5.00PM) It is elections period in England , and the parliamentary elections are to be held on 7 th of May. The two main parties in the fray are the ruling conservative party and the opposition labor party. On the day of the recent Sinhala and Hindu new year, in the new year wishes message sent by the opposition labor party leader cum opposition leader Ed Miliband , the word Sinhala was omitted inadvertently and only the word Hindu was mentioned. This created an ill feeling and disappointment among the Sinhala Sri Lankans there. Miliband later however, realizing the lapse had sent the new year wishes message again including the word ‘Sinhala’ - that is mentioning ‘Sinhala and Hindu New year ‘ to all Sri Lankans in England. The Sri Lankan community residing in England expressed their gratitude to that country for the assistance she is extending to our country’s development.
It is Sri Lal , the president of the Sri Lankan organization , ‘voice of the people foundation ,’ in Britain who took the necessary steps to rectify the original message of Miliband .
