Emergency call service to know about Sri Lankans in the Middle East..!

-Ministry of Foreign Affairs

(Lanka-e-News -02.March.2026, 8.00 PM) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken steps to implement a 24-hour emergency call service to provide any information needed by Sri Lankans living in the Middle East and their relatives in this country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that this service is being implemented for the safety and well-being of about one million Sri Lankans living and working in the region, while closely monitoring the military situation and the prevailing security situation in the Middle East region.

Considering the prevailing regional instability, Sri Lankan citizens in the Middle East are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and follow reliable local media and official announcements of the host country, avoid non-essential travel and large public gatherings, maintain constant contact with the nearest Sri Lankan diplomatic mission, keep their mobile phones charged, and carry valid identification and documents at all times.

All Sri Lankan diplomatic missions in the region have activated 24-hour emergency hotlines to provide assistance in times of need, and 24-hour emergency hotlines are also operational for inquiries from families in Sri Lanka. These include the Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: +94742595546, Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE): +94719802822 and the hotline 1989.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also states that it will continue to monitor the situation and issue further updates as necessary.
