(Lanka-e-News -30.April.2026, 4.30 PM) The mysterious death of Ranga Rajapaksa, the Director of the Department of Foreign Resources, who first complained to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) about the large-scale financial robbery of $2.5 million from the General Treasury, has once again heated up the country. This cannot be dismissed as a mere heart attack or a natural death, and it is necessary to immediately investigate whether the "digital rats" hidden in the system or conspirators trying to bury the fraud are behind this death.

Ranga Rajapaksa was also suspended.

The most suspicious aspect of this death is that although Mr. Ranga Rajapaksa was the one who exposed the fraud, his service was also temporarily suspended since the Department of Foreign Resources was directly responsible for this incident. It is reasonable to suspect that the resignation of an officer who had many important secrets about the "security holes" in the system and the cyber conspiracy to change bank accounts in the midst of an investigation is a strategic attempt to hinder further investigations. Ranga Rajapaksa had given three statements to the CID regarding the incident. The first was while he was in service and the second and third statements were given after he was suspended. However, Mr. Ranga Rajapaksa was known as a very good person within the Department of Foreign Resources

The goal of the real conspirators..

The goal of the real conspirators behind this fraud is to socialize the idea that the "government has failed" by attacking the core of the government. Just as the corrupt officials and their political masters who have been in the system for many years have combined to lead this digital robbery, the government should pay close attention to whether it is now working to erase the evidence of it. It is impossible to avoid pointing the finger of death at the people who have left the "back door" of the system open by not allowing it to be updated since 2019.

Gangs that lost power are back...

In a country where there was a rogue political culture that even orchestrated the Easter bombings that claimed over 300 lives and tried to seize power, the gangs that lost power may once again engage in any despicable act to overthrow the government of Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The current government should be wise to never again hand over control of the country to those gangs that justify any murder or financial robbery for the sake of political power.

Investigations should not be limited to a mere post-mortem examination.

The body of Mr. Ranga Rajapaksa was found in his garden. The body had cuts and a knife was found nearby. It is still unclear whether this was a murder or a suicide. The police investigation into this mysterious death should not be limited to a mere post-mortem examination, but a 'forensic' investigation should be initiated immediately on all digital devices and files owned by Mr. Ranga Rajapaksa. This is a good opportunity to end the tradition of silencing witnesses and suppressing the truth. We remind you that Lanka e News will stand by the people until these $2.5 million fraudsters and the masterminds behind it are brought to justice.
