(Lanka-e-News -03.May.2026, 7.30 PM) A meticulous operation conducted under the leadership and guidance of the Director of the Walana Anti-Corruption Unit, Rohan Olugala, concluded successfully yesterday. Randika Lakshan alias 'Booja', a criminal who was involved in drug trafficking, extorting money from businessmen and threatening residents of the area in the Homagama and Maharagama areas, has been arrested along with a stock of drugs worth about 10 million rupees.
In this operation conducted in the Hiripitiya and Pannipitiya areas yesterday (02) morning, Randika Lakshan alias 'Booja' along with another of his criminal accomplices, Ajantha Dhammika alias 'Gothaya', were also arrested from the Olugala group. Randika Lakshan alias 'Booja' is a resident of the Puhudelgahawatta area in Kottawa.
When drug trafficker Randika Lakshan alias "Booja" was arrested, he was found to be in possession of 120,000 mg of heroin, 360,000 mg of kush, and 247,000 mg of ice. The value of the drugs is estimated at Rs. 10 million and the police say that operations are underway to find more drugs in his possession.
The police have identified Randika Lakshan alias "Booja" and Ajantha Dhammika alias "Gothaya" as two key members of the drug ring run by an organized criminal operating from abroad, Tanuja Sampath alias "Handaya". It is learnt that a net has also been set up to arrest "Handaya", who is said to be abroad.
Meanwhile, the police have also received complaints that Randika Lakshan alias 'Booja' and his henchmen have broken into the homes of businessmen, robbed them of their valuables and fled.
