(Lanka-e-News -04.Aug.2015, 11.00PM) The voice tape of western province chief minister Prasanna Ranatunge demanding Rs. 64 million as bribe is now in the custody of the inside information division of Lanka e News.
A director of Silicon Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Gehard Mendis bought 2 acres 2.8 perches of land with assessment No. 251/9 situated at Meethotamulla road, Kolonnawa belonging to Ajith Swarnapriya. However the path that leads to the land was occupied by squatters.
Prasanna has demanded a bribe of Rs. 70 million to evict the squatters , and Mendis had given Prasanna dated cheques for Rs. 64 million in this connection .Prasanna had got Rs. 8 million worth cheque encashed through Naresh an assistant of Prasanna by depositing the cheque to Prasanna’s wife’s account.
To collect the balance sum of the bribe, Prasanna as minister has threatened Mendis on many occasions . The voice tape hereunder reveals how Prasanna as minister on one of the occasions scolding Mendis in the most filthiest and foul language to obtain the bribe.
Sadly, Prasanna Ranatunge despite this bribe taking and his outrageous corruption is free on bail granted by court as though he is innocent as an infant with a soother in the mouth. Unbelievably and unfortunately it is to such a corrupt bribe taker, president Maithripala Sirisena of the much hyped good governance gave nomination.
