(Lanka-e-News -29.Nov.2015, 8.40AM) 44 MPs of the SLFP and UPFA parties , the leader of which parties is none other than the president Maithripala Sirisena himself, Friday(27) handed over a no confidence motion signed by them to the speaker Karu Jayasuriya against finance minister Ravi Karunanayake.
The most ludicrous and ridiculous part of this attempted no confidence motion is, this is by a group of the SLFP and UPFA parties of president Maithripala Sirisena that endorsed the United government , but now seeking to reject that same government . By this tomfoolery and buffoonery this group of Maithripala have proved beyond doubt to the whole world that they are the biggest parliamentary clowns in the world fit for a circus and not the parliament. (Of course these traits were in them all along though Maithripala could not understand)
The historic blunder committed via this attempted no confidence motion is : if the finance minister presenting the budget is to be opposed while the budget debate is on going , the only way to express it is by using the vote at time of voting, against the budget. Instead of this , a no confidence motion has been forwarded. This ridiculous attempt deserves a place only in the Guinness book of records of most detestable and despicable jokers and clowns in a parliament , for nowhere in the world such ludicrous attempts are made in a recognised Democratic parliament.

It is significant to note that some of these signatories are members of the central committee of the SLFP led by president Maithripala Sirisena himself. In other words , this is an action flagrantly and rudely violating decisons taken by Maithripala and his party, the SLFP.
People are therefore eagerly watching and waiting how president Maithripala who took over the dying SLFP leadership after becoming the president is going to react to this obnoxious , shameful and self destructive move of his own party members.
