(Lanka-e-News -14.Feb.2026, 9.25 PM) Police have sought public assistance in identifying suspects involved in the double murder that occurred yesterday (13) in Akuregoda, Thalangama.
According to the ongoing investigations, it has been revealed that the shooters who came to commit the crime had traveled through the areas of Homagama, Pothuarawa Road, Athurugiriya Police Division, Kottawa and Makumbura. Police say that the dash cameras installed on vehicles traveling on these roads yesterday evening when the incident occurred may have recorded the movement of the car bearing number EP KI-7738, which is suspected to have come from these roads.
Accordingly, the owners and drivers of vehicles traveling in the above areas yesterday evening are requested to check whether the footage of the above car was recorded on their vehicle cameras and if there is any such footage, to inform the police immediately on the following telephone numbers.
Investigations into the murder incident are being conducted by 10 special police teams on the instructions of the IGP.
