(Lanka-e-News -26.Feb.2026, 11.00 AM) The 2019 Easter Sunday attacks, which killed three hundred unarmed people and left 500 permanently disabled, have gone down in Sri Lankan history as the most brutal attack. It is no secret that those brutal attacks not only shocked the Sri Lankan society, hurt the hearts of the people, and left a huge dark cloud in our air, but also hurt the hearts of the entire international community.
Those brutal suicide attacks were a very clear conspiracy launched with the aim of bringing to power the great criminal Gotabaya Rajapaksa, disguised as a great hero who was chased out of the country.
After the brutal military campaign to suppress the armed struggle in the North ended, there was a planned conspiracy to bring Gotabaya Rajapaksa to power. According to the conspiracy agenda, there were three people who supported Gotabaya and provided theories behind the communal and religious conflicts that were created at that time. One was Kapila Hendawitharana, who worked in the military intelligence department at that time. The other was his closest disciple, Suresh Saley. Their ideologue was the so-called ‘Professor’ Rohan Gunaratne, who describes himself as an expert on terrorism and has even been banned from entering Canada.
Of these, Suresh Saley, who was appointed as the Chief of State Intelligence by Gota, has now been arrested.
The CID has arrested him based on clear evidence that has been uncovered in relation to the Easter Sunday attacks.
The arrest of Saley is a huge blow to the Easter Sunday investigation that Gotabaya and Ranil Wickremesinghe were trying to suppress. We have revealed from the beginning that Saley should not be in the witness box in a case related to the Easter Sunday attacks, but in the accused box.
The most serious evidence about the infamous Sale is revealed through the oral testimony of Fathima Hadiya, the wife of the suicide bomber Saharan. There, the presidential commissions and investigations seriously suspected that Suresh Saley was the person who frequently called Saharan on the phone under the alias 'Abuhind' and to whom Saharan appeared to be submissive. Now, permission has been granted by the court to detain and question Saley.
As former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka has pointed out in Parliament, Sale is an obedient slave of Gotabaya. He has fed Muslim extremist groups in collaboration with Kapila Hendawitharana to bring Gotabaya to power in the future. The Ministry of Defense has maintained groups including Saharan through secret accounts. In parallel, the same accounts have also provided great state support, both financially and materially, to the Bodu Bala Sena led by the ignorant monk Galagoda Atthe Gnanasara. Why did they also feed Islamic extremism while feeding Sinhala-Buddhist extremism? The aim was to bring Gotabaya Rajapaksa to power through the communal fires ignited by the conflicts between these extremist groups.
The financial support and the provision of weapons and explosives to the gang including Saharan through secret accounts of the Ministry of Defense began in 2010. The explosives, target locations, and date required for the suicide attack were also forwarded to Saharan with the knowledge of Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Saley and Rohan Gunaratne gang used Nilantha Jayawardena, Sirisena’s confidant, to frame the former rogue president Maithripala Sirisena, who is a nefarious criminal accomplice. Through Nilantha, they made a promise to Sirisena. That is, if he allows the attack to succeed, in the chaotic political situation that ensues, Sirisena will be permanently made the Prime Minister of a government formed under Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Sirisena, who swallowed the rope given by Saley, cunningly moved to India and then to Singapore before the Easter attacks.
There is a reason why we as a group have been making continuous efforts for the past few years until a proper investigation is conducted into the Easter Sunday attacks. That is, if this attack is not fully investigated, then in the future, the blood of thousands of unarmed people will be shed in our motherland to seize or maintain political power. The majority of those killed on Easter Sunday were people who had gone to churches with a clear mind to worship their God. In addition, many journalists who challenged the corrupt murderous rule of the Rajapaksas were also killed by this gang. So, fellow people of Sri Lanka, shouldn’t the activities of this gang, which has made racist and religious rallies and conspiracies the oxygen for maintaining its politics, stop now?
For that, the masterminds of the Easter Sunday conspiracy must be exposed before the law.
Therefore, at this moment when one of the killer sharks of Gotabaya's murderous gang has been arrested, let us recall a few points that should be given serious attention for further investigations. If the authorities also pay attention to these points, the "hidden mastermind" will be easily found. That is the expectation of the people. That is the mandate given to this government by the people.
1. A thorough investigation should be conducted into Maithripala Sirisena’s threat to Gotabaya that he would reveal what he knew about the Easter attacks if pressured. Sirisena should be immediately arrested and questioned in this regard.
2. An immediate investigation should be conducted into the pro-Rajapaksa gang working in the military intelligence service, which was well known to former IGP Pujith Jayasundara and which provided money and weapons to Saharan in the East, and its top officers.
3. Former military intelligence chief Brigadier Chula Kodituwakku has pressured the arrest of Jameel, the suicide bomber who died in Dehiwala following the Easter attacks, when he was arrested. His statement that he was involved in the military intelligence service should be investigated with immediate effect.
4. The placement of the costumes used by the LTTE terrorists to show their involvement in the Batticaloa and Vavunathivu attacks was done on Sale's instructions. This should be investigated.
5. The transactions and phone calls between Suresh Sale and Nilantha Jayawardena should be investigated.
6. The bribes and phone calls made by Suresh Sale's gang to direct Galagoda Atthe Gnanasara and Udaya Gammanpila to sabotage the investigation into the Easter attacks should be investigated.
7. An investigation should be immediately conducted into the deployment of a group of Navy personnel by the then Minister of Public Security Sarath Weerasekara through former Navy Commander Nishantha Ulugetenne to intimidate the public in order to spread false propaganda that extremist attacks on Catholic churches would be repeated during Gotabaya's rule.
8. The scenario of "killing Gota and Sirisena" and the relevant phone calls should be analyzed by a scoundrel named Namal Kumara.
9. Where did Maithripala Sirisena, Nilantha Jayawardena and Pujith Jayasundara get the money to pay millions in compensation? Whose invisible hand is it that helped them? Whose secret accounts did that money go to? Investigate according to the saying, "Find the path the money went. The thief will be found."
10. The way the corrupt media Derana and Hiru acted with the Easter attack should be investigated. The way they got the last video of Saharan and his gang should be investigated.
11. An investigation into the immovable and movable properties that the pro-Rajapaksa gang of the Army Intelligence Unit, including Suresh Saley, who worked with him, has acquired in Colombo and other urban areas under various names over the past two decades should be carried out immediately with the intervention of the current Army Commander.
12. A special investigation should be conducted once again into the incident of Pulastini Rajendran alias Sarah Jasmine.
If the above-mentioned special incidents are investigated in depth, it will be possible to expose the involvement of Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Maithripala Sirisena, Suresh Sale and Nilantha Jayawardena in this heinous crime before the law. Only then can justice be served regarding this crime.
