The QR code system for issuing fuel will be re-implemented from 6 am today..!

(Lanka-e-News -15.March.2026, 2.10 PM) The government has decided to re-implement the QR code system for obtaining fuel as the fuel supply routes are being disrupted day by day due to the military situation in the Middle East and the demand for fuel in the country is increasing abnormally, and as the country's existing fuel reserves need to be taken care of, this system will be implemented from 6.00 am on this morning (15)

The procedure for obtaining the QR code under this new system is as follows:

1. Those who have previously registered a QR code:

i. If the ownership or phone number of the vehicle has not changed, you can download the code from the website https://fuelpass.gov.lk/ from midnight on (14).

ii. If the ownership or phone number of the vehicle has changed, you must re-register from the website https://fuelpass.gov.lk from 6.00 am on (15).

02. Vehicles that have not previously registered a QR code and are newly registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles (RMV):

i. You must register from the website https://fuelpass.gov.lk/ from 6.00 am on 15.03.2026.

The amounts of fuel issued to vehicles per week after the government introduced the "QR" code to localize the country's fuel reserves are as follows.

For buses - 60 liters
For motorcycles - 5 liters
For vans - 40 liters
For cars - 15 liters
For lorries - 200 liters
For land vehicles - 25 liters
For three-wheelers - 15 liters
For special purpose vehicles - 40 liters
For quadricycles - 5 liters

Fuel for private buses from the SLTB

Fuel for private passenger transport buses will be issued by the Sri Lanka Transport Board. Accordingly, 60 liters of fuel will be provided to passenger transport buses per day.
