(Lanka-e-News -24.Sep.2026,11.00 P.M.) A former Krrish Transworks director is in remand. The real test is whether the law follows the money all the way to the man who allegedly received it.
Investigators of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested Gitanjali Janaki de Soysa Siriwardena on 24 September 2026. She is a former director and executive officer of Krrish Transworks Colombo (Pvt) Ltd. She was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate and remanded until 6 October.
According to the Commission, the company paid Rs. 70 million on three occasions to MP Namal Rajapaksa. The money was allegedly meant to help it acquire the Transworks Square land in Colombo Fort, which belongs to the Urban Development Authority, and to speed up the approvals it needed. These are allegations only, and no court has ruled on them.

A leading criminal President's Counsel told LankaeNews that such oral evidence is legally valid. He said the defence would be entitled to cross-examine the witness, and if a judge found the evidence authentic and credible, it could support a conviction.
That standard cuts both ways. A bribery case built on a single witness and no paper trail is fragile, and courts treat an accomplice's account with caution.
If the allegation is proven, the courts would have to deal with a serving MP. The public will then ask whether the same standard reaches other members of the Rajapaksa family, including Yositha Rajapaksa and former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa.
Sri Lankans have watched powerful families escape the consequences of earlier investigations, and public faith in the law rests on whether this case follows a different path. That means a prosecution that reaches both the recipient and the alleged payer, and a trial that is open, evidence-led, and free of political interference.
