- ‘Rescinds agreement, ignores laws, imitates MR ; whither justice’
(Lanka-e-News- 08.Dec.2015, 1.35PM) The news report of Lanka e news on 12 th November under the caption ‘President to hand over Avant Garde to Navy : Rescinds agreement, ignores laws, imitates MR ; whither justice?’ was confirmed as absolutely true based on a statement made by the defense secretary to a weekend (Sunday) newspaper . Poor defense secretary Karunaratne Hettiarachi best known for his worst tomfoolery has let the cat out of the bag!
Lanka e news in its report earlier revealed , the unilateral abrogation by the government of the agreements between Avant Garde maritime Co. and the government , and handing over that Co. to the Navy is absolutely unlawful. It was also pointed out that under the pretext of bringing the Co. under the Navy , the president is actually seeking to fatten his henchmen exploiting this lucrative business while pulling the wool over the eyes of the masses.
We also highlighted that this is a maneuver of president Maithripala Sirisena to hand over the lucrative business to his henchman Kili Maharaja’s Maritime securities Co; a company that is close to Rajitha Senaratne; and a company close to Arjuna Ranatunge.
Subsequently , the ministers who are close to the president and Saman Rathnapriya a Civil organization leader said , the monies that were being channeled to Avant Garde hitherto is now being directed towards the government coffers. Sadly these individuals did not know that a business cannot be carried out by the official forces of the country.
If that is in fact possible , the Indian Navy the world’s fourth Naval fleet of the world or the world’s number one fleet of the American Navy located in Diego Garcia could carry out that task of providing security to the merchant vessels sailing across the Indian ocean . Sri Lanka‘s small naval force is not necessary for that task. In any event this is something impossible under any circumstance.
Unfortunately , the civil leaders- the ignoramuses hovering around Maithripala who know nothing about global laws but skilled only in servile sycophancy doing Maithripala ‘s biddings blew the whistle for Maithri to make his initial faltering move.
And now , the defense secretary making a statement to the weekend newspaper said in no uncertain terms , Avant Grade Co. was taken over by the Navy during the transition period until the business is handed over to other companies, thereby twisting the tongues and shutting the cavernous mouths of all those who made utterances to the contrary.
''Let us say , this is a sort of a transition. Indeed, this is a period of transition from Avant Garde to another. What we are however clearly trying to aim at is breaking down despotism. If this business is conducted based on valid agreements and on some methodology while allowing others too to engage in the business , no harm is done and may be carried on. The agreement between Rakna Lanka and Avant Garde is valid until 2019.Yet ,''
Rajitha the cabinet spokesman said on November 12 th , because Avant Garde was having in its possession weapons illegally , it was brought under the Navy on security grounds. Rajitha speaking to Lanka e news over the phone too stated this. Later Rajitha said at a Cabinet media meeting , after the acquisition of Avant Garde , the Navy collected a revenue of US $520, 000 in six days, and so the Navy is carrying out these operations.
If this is the true position , what the defense secretary is telling now is diametrically opposite.
Lanka e news first and foremost revealed this truth.
We who were the first to expose this controvesial Avant Garde mystery and murky activities ,to the world , urged to detect those illicit goings on. Maithripala and his henchmen instead , while conducting two investigations , and even before they were concluded , without the knowledge of the Cabinet , without summoning the security council , without a court order, without a gazette notification , without citing any law or enactment to support the action , transferred the company in its entirety to the forces , while ruthlessly leaving the entire staff of 6000 members high and dry.
We opposed this action , and exposed it as a manipulation to give over another’s business Co. to the henchmen under the guise of bringing the Company under the forces. Today , the defense secretary himself has confirmed our exposure and substantiated our claims.
The defense secretary making a statement to a weekend newspaper confirmed that laws were not abided by ,when he revealed ''I have prepared a letter in this regard to Avant Garde Co. , and I have sent it to the Attorney General (AG) for legal advice. But so far the AG’s reply has not been received. '' Clearly , this means that a private Co. has been acquired not in accordance with the laws.
The defense secretary made two more intriguing and insensible statements after the acquisition of Avant Garde Co…..
''Huge amount of cash is being receieved . For its operations US dollars 3500.00 is collected. In the future we have thought of reducing that amount, because this is a massive amount. By that we are going to get thrown out of the market.''
This is a most bizarre statement , because this buffoon says ,the payments collected by Avant Garde Co. as a private establishment from foreign shipping companies is going to be reduced. Then , is this how the profit going to be increased for the government? Mind you these monies are paid not by the SL government but by the foreign shipping companies.
Why is Karunaratne Hettiarachi worrying over the payments made by the shipping companies hitherto ? How can he say ‘we are going to get thrown out from the market ?’ Whom is he referring to as ‘we?’ . Is it ‘we’ the Navy or the Kili Maharajas or Rajitha’s or Arjuna’s rapacious groups who are manipulating the figures to show a smaller amount , and secure the business to themselves?
Statement two..
''Though Avant Grade is running the etsablishment with 10 to 15 thousand employees , there is no need to have such a large staff.’ What he is trying to publicise by this is there had been a vast destruction owing to this . This is to discredit the government'' he added.
This statement is not only most curious but even stupid…..
We have only heard of retrenchment of staff by a private concern on the grounds that the government had employed redundant staff when a government Institution is taken over by a private concern , and not the converse – that is ,after a private concern is taken over by the government , trimming down the staff on the grounds that the private Co. has recruited redundant staff has never been witnessed.
In the backdrop of these two statements of the buffoon of a defense secretary which defy all canons of logic and common sense , what he is saying is, Avant Garde private Co. has retained more staff while incurring loss; and only now the government is seeking to earn more for the government coffers by reducing the collections from the foreign shipping companies , and diminishing the staff strength .How wonderful!
This story deserves a place among the tales meant for lunatics, and the one who weaved this story must be sent back to the loony bin from where he has got himself discharged. Either he is trying to make us mad with his own dementia by making us listen or he must be sent to the loony bin faster than the speed he came out from it.
It is Miaithripala Sirisena himself who removed the former defense secretary , the government administrative service officer and replaced him with a most incompetent misfit by the name of Karunaratne Hettiarachi , a classmate of his from Polonnaruwa . But based on Hettiarachi’s stupid utterances and insane insensible statements , the only sane and sensible conclusion one can arrive at is , this bloke’s mind is so moth eaten that he knows not even to make a profit by selling a kitchen utensil in Polonnaruwa .
No matter what , it is best if Hettiarachi goes about with his full complement of security officers all the time clustered around him , for if he has only a tail with such strong ‘horns’ of a buffalo , on an empty head , he would be the first and favorite buffalo for cattle thieves.

Shame Looney Hettarachi has let down his guard regarding the revelation of the secrets of Avant Garde. May be Looney's portforlio should be immediately changed to Secretary of Animal Husbandary & Sea Life withing the Territorial Waters of Hambantota which at one time represented the whole island. According to enews sources Looney has four feet. A portforlio change will prevent Looney from putting his other three feet, hopefully one at a time, into his unguarded mouth agian.
