(Lanka-e-News- 03.July.2015, 11.30PM) Supreme court (SC) Judge Sarath Abrew who allegedly attacked a woman domestic in his house with a pistol and stripped her nude with motive to rape her , was not allowed to mount the bench yesterday(02) by chief justice (CJ), according to reports reaching Lanka e news.
Sri Lanka (SL) Bar association has in writing requested all judges inluding the chief justice to abstain from sitting with Abrew to hear cases.
Cases were sheduled to be heard by Abrew yesterday , but he had come to court about an hour late . As the other judges have conveyed their opposition to sit with Abrew to hear cases to the CJ, the latter had notified the other judges to refrain from mounting the bench with this scoundrel of a judge to hear cases , and because of CJ ‘s resentment against him , Abrew was not allowed to mount the bench to hear cases.The CJ has also taken back the files that were with Abrew.
Meanwhile the Bar association has informed the president in writing , and requested to take appropriate action against him. Under the existent laws the president is empowered to interdict a SC judge if he is facing heinous charges.
Nilusha Damayanthi the hospitalised victim who was subjected to molestation, made a preliminary statement. Based on this statement , when the Mt. Lavinia police went to record Abrew’s statement he had dodged it.
When the police asked Abrew to surrender the pistol used for the attack , Abrew has threatened that if they try to obtain the pistol he would shoot himself .After this situation was reported to the IGP , the latter entrusted the investigation to the CID , Colombo.
In the interim , the police by furnishing a second report to the Mt.Lavinia police , requested a warrant to arrest Abrew.Although the police was empowered to arrest a SC judge without a warrant in respect of heinous charges , the police as an extra precautionary measure sought a warrant from the court .
By now the CID has recorded a second statement of the victim. The statement made directly by her to the CID is most heart rending …….
''The victim who is a forlorn woman with no one to turn to for help had been in employment under Abrew during the last few weeks . Since the day she commenced work , the behavior of the accused was most immoral and lascivious .On the day of the incident , Abrew after brandishing the pistol had forced the victim to strip nude . He had thereatened that if she does not allow him to commit rape he would kill her husband and children . ‘Do you know the police will not take any action against this as I am a judge of the highest echelons.’ While making these threats he had attempted to rape her.
When the victm had resisted , Abrew has assaulted her with the pistol ,and in the ensuing struggle , she had scratched Abrew with her nails , and freed herself from him. Thereafter when she arrived at the hospital to dress her wounds , the incident has come to light.''
Based on this revelation ,this shameless Abrew who shamed the judiciary and the whole legal profession is facing heinous charges of attempted rape,threatening with death using a pistol , assaulting with a firearm and causing grievous injuries . In these circumstances , the judge should be arrested and remanded .
It is significant to note this judge had on several previous occasions too had committed similar offences , but being a Rajapakse crony , this looney was saved with their intervention. It will be in the best national interests if all the other women who fell victim to him previously come forward and make their complaints again, because the lawless Rajapakses who belittled rapes , heroin imports and brutal murders, and saved those suspects are now not on the scene .
It is the duty of womens lib organizations to search those victims and try to facilitate their action .

If this is true why is the authorities still sleeping. He must be sick at his age to attempt what he is accused oh. Haul him before the courts and get him to charge abrew for attempted rape
